Recently we were presented with the challenge to create two memorabilia frames for Tyrone “The Cyclone” Tongia.
He was donating one of the frames for fundraising and keeping the other as a momento of the event he had staged earlier at the Brisbane Bronco’s Leagues Club.
We decided to make one frame with the right glove sitting on the left hand side and the other in the opposite format so both box frames would look different but similar.
The image taken from the fight card was enlarged and manipulated to match the size of the window required to fit the glove.
The photo below the fight card and glove was one of Tyrone with Andrew Gee and Shane Webke both former players from the Broncos Rugby League Football Club.
The glove was personally signed by Shane, Andrew and Tyrone making it a personalized collectible. Collectible sporting memorabilia is always sought out by fans who desire something that is special to them. People who have a passion for sport like to show their team colours and display their memorabilia with pride.
The framing presented numerous challenges because of the depth that was required to safely display the boxing glove and because we were under some time pressures to meet the client’s deadline.
The construction was made using two picture frame box mouldings that we joined together. The inside lining of both the matting and the box was suede covered mat board. We chose a red suede to enhance the glove and a black suede to match the Cyclone Squad colours and logo.
